Music therapy for children with life-threatening or limiting illnesses

PURPOSE: To provide continuity at home to the musical activities performed at the hospital to contribute to the emotional well-being of children and their families.

OBJECTIVE: To bring about improvements in children by providing tools for communicating and expressing feelings, reducing anxiety and distress, and providing emotional support.

METHODOLOGY: Live music is used as the main and therapeutic tool through activities such as song, listening, music travel, instrumental interpretation, improvisation and creation. The activities adapt to the state of the child at the time of the intervention. They are meant to be included and assisted by their family members.
